Objectives
To assess the impact of the introduction of sildenafil citrate, a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, into a Canadian community pharmacy market.
Methods
A cross-sectional survey of 5,300 Canadian men and women with erectile dysfunction treated in Canada was conducted in 2024. The study was designed as a prospective, descriptive, cohort study. The main outcome was the proportion of patients who completed the patient-reported questionnaire of the erectile function questionnaire. Results of the survey were obtained for 3,845 patients. Of these patients, 2,099 (93.2%) completed the patient-reported questionnaire and 73.4% were classified as being satisfied with the erectile function questionnaire. The proportion of patients reporting that their erections improved was significantly higher in patients who were satisfied with the questionnaire than patients who were not satisfied with the questionnaire. In a survey conducted by the Canadian Sexual Medicine Society of Canada, 92.2% of patients who had used sildenafil citrate for erectile dysfunction had been satisfied with the questionnaire. Sildenafil citrate was also found to be effective in a subset of patients with erectile dysfunction who had not been treated with sildenafil citrate. Results of the study indicate that sildenafil citrate is as effective as sildenafil in treating erectile dysfunction in men with erectile dysfunction.
Conclusion
This study demonstrates the efficacy of sildenafil citrate in treating erectile dysfunction in men with erectile dysfunction. This finding is significant as it demonstrates the clinical effectiveness of sildenafil citrate and its potential to be applied to other erectile dysfunction disorders. Patients receiving sildenafil citrate may be prescribed the drug and may have a higher chance of being satisfied with its use. However, the use of sildenafil citrate for erectile dysfunction in Canada is limited and the use of sildenafil citrate in men with erectile dysfunction is a potential option for other treatments.

The main objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of ED in men with ED and to assess the impact of the introduction of sildenafil citrate in Canadian pharmacists.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This retrospective, descriptive, cohort study was conducted using electronic patient databases. The study was approved by the Canadian Medical Information Commission (CMAI). The study protocol was registered on Clinical Trial Registry of the Canadian Clinical Trials Registry (CTRCTN). The trial was registered in the Canadian Register of Diseases and Stroke (CRD148380).
The study was conducted in two phases. The first phase, conducted in April 2024, was designed as a prospective, descriptive, cohort study. The second phase, conducted in November 2024, involved a cross-sectional study that included 5,300 men and women aged 18 to 64 years with ED who were prescribed sildenafil citrate (Viagra, Revatio) for their ED. The participants were identified by a pharmacist and sent a questionnaire for a second time, and a second questionnaire was sent back to the pharmacist for further consideration.
The participants were classified as having ED in the first period. The first questionnaire was sent back to the pharmacist for further consideration.
